Persistent Progress

Keppon is best known for its modern materials and manufacturing processes, and is the ward that was least perturbed by the storm.

Keppon and Aëvon both see themselves as the superior Wards of Beizai and have a bit of a rivalry going on, each looking especially down on the other’s tactics, a sore point especially for Aëvon in the wake of the storm.

Keppon is not a beautiful place; efficiency is key to a well-run society, they claim, and so its buildings are beautifully efficient boxes (or, for the upper crust, hexagonal prisms) made up of brick and, in developments that would have been recent at the beginning of the storm, the beginnings of metal. Its buildings are strong and Keppon already had created a fair number of caves for the purposes of mining. Still, the influx of people meant changes had to be made, so many people have been forced to share their houses with evacuees, and the danger of going outside means that houses are now connected with underground tunnels rather than outdoor sidewalks where possible.

Keppon reluctantly participates in Aëvon’s magical transport network in exchange for building materials to fortify others’ caves and create underground housing.
